【路很長 我們仍在路上〡Year in Review 2021】

Updated: Jan 11, 2022

.

Amid waves upon waves of goodbyes last year, we’re entrusted with boxes after boxes of quality used books by their previous owners, who had to reluctantly let them go. The number of books collected increased by 1.3 times compared with 2020 even though no public used book collection activity was able to be held.

.

On the other end, we re-channeled over 22,300 books to different needy communities, mainly through our two Free Books Programs for schools/NGOs and deserving individuals. Owing to the rising popularity of the two Programs, we saw a remarkable 300% growth for the number of outgoing books.

.

Since its inception in 2009, Read-Cycling has received over 200,000 quality used books and helped more than 150,000 of them find new homes.

▍Keep Sharing What We Have

.

We always believe our warehouse, aka PPO Library, should serve more than the participating schools/NGOs of the Free Books Programs. Last year, we called for volunteers to help run PPO Library three days a week for the public to come and read, buy affordable books or simply have a break. The response were overwhelming, with a total of 163 people joining the task. Our Library will continue to open from Thursday to Saturday in 2022.

We love to do more and be the venue partner with like-minded units. Please contact us at enquiry@read-cycling.org if you need a space to promote reading and/or host cultural events.

.

Thank you all again for your kind gifts, partnering with us and volunteering for us in 2021. We'll keep going because we know we are not walking alone during these turbulent times. From all of us at Read-Cycling, best wishes for a safe and healthy 2022!
